Two brothers from Teynham have been locked up for a string of offences including violence and robbery.
Johnny Brazil, 19, was sentenced to four-and-a-half years youth custody and Jimmy Brazil to four years jail - on his 24th birthday.
“What a way to celebrate it,” Judge Julian Smith told him.
Charlie Lee and Jack Friend, both 21 and from Sittingbourne, escaped immediate prison sentences for lesser offences.
Maidstone Crown Court heard all four were involved when Tyrone Cook was robbed of his car in Teynham on January 10 last year.
He came out of the Co-op at 7.15am to find his car would not start. He saw six youths and asked if they would give him a push.
The Peugeot 206 started and they asked for a lift. When all six piled in Mr Cook asked them to leave. Jimmy Brazil then struck him in the face with a bottle.
Friend tried to punch the victim, but he got out of the car and struck him in the face.
While Mr Cook was in the Co-op seeking help, Friend drove the car away with others as passengers. Soon afterwards he crashed it into a pile of bricks in Eveas Drive, Sittingbourne.
The most serious offence was committed by Johnny Brazil - known as Baby John - when he stabbed Jack Lupson in Faversham on August 1.
Brazil had earlier attacked the victim and his friend Martin Brewer outside Davington Stores in Priory Row.
Mr Lupson went to Barnes Close to “sort it out” and Brazil knifed him in the abdomen. Mr Lupson was flown by air ambulance to a London hospital with a suspected punctured colon.
Brazil was cleared of wounding with intent and convicted of unlawful wounding. He denied both charges.
Johnny Brazil, of Barrow Grove, Teynham, was convicted of unlawful wounding after a trial. He admitted robbery, aggravated car-taking, assault causing actual bodily harm and common assault.
Jimmy Brazil, also of Barrow Grove, admitted robbery, aggravated vehicle taking, assault causing actual bodily harm and common assault.
They were both banned from driving for a year, to take effect when released.
Lee, of Quinton Road, and Jack Friend, of Cherry Close, admitted aggravated car-taking. Friend also admitted assault.
Lee was sentenced to four months imprisonment suspended for two years with supervision and 250 hours unpaid work.
Friend was sentenced to six months suspended for 18 months with supervision and 100 hours unpaid work. He was banned from driving for two years.
Prosecutor Ian Foinette said Johnny Brazil and another teenager robbed Jordan Oliver of his coat and mobile phone in Langley Road, Sittingbourne, on March 8 last year.
On June 25 last year, Jimmy Brazil robbed James Hendry of his car in Eclipse Drive. The victim had been to football training when Brazil told him: “Please can you do me a favour? I have fallen in a bush. I am drunk and I am in a bad way. Can you give me a lift to Milton?”
Mr Hendry agreed but as he reached Milton Regis Brazil said he wanted to go to Quinton.
When he refused Brazil became aggressive telling him: “Do you know who I am? I will knock you out. Don’t make me switch.”
Mr Hendry became scared and nervous and Brazil apologised telling him he was not a bully. He leant over and kissed him on the cheek - described as a “Judas kiss “ by the judge.
The victim still refused. Brazil then told him: “Mate, I have got a knife. I will stab you and kill you.”
Brazil ordered him out of the car and drove it away.
Mr Hendry’s girlfriend picked him up. They found Brazil on Facebook. They called the police and showed an officer a picture of him.
The car had been abandoned in Hinde Close and was damaged from rolling onto the kerb and hitting a shop.
The Brazil brothers committed more violence on July 19 when they went to The Ivy Leaf pub in Sheerness High Street and attacked a man in the beer garden.
The victim was hit by a “weighty punch” from Johnny Brazil and his brother struck him in the head while he lay motionless on the ground.
Judge Smith told Johnny Brazil both he and Mr Lupson were “exceptionally lucky” that the knife injury was not more serious.
“You produced a knife of terrifying length,” he said. “It is fortunate he is not dead or seriously injured and you are not facing something more serious.”
Brazil claimed he acted in self-defence, but the judge said: “This is not lawful use of a weapon. It was not reckless, it was deliberate use. It is a serious matter.”
The judge said Lee and Friend were in a different position. “Each of you has been given a chance,” he added. “Don’t throw it away.”
