A woman and her two children had to be rescued from a car trapped in floodwater under a railway bridge.
The family were travelling along Selling Road near Faversham when the car became stranded in a deep puddle caused by yesterday's downpour.
The worried mother called emergency services, reporting that water was pouring into the car and had risen up past their feet.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service's water safety unit rushed to the scene at 6pm yesterday, armed with a boat.
A spokesman said: "KFRS crews rescued a woman and two children from a car trapped in floodwater under a railway bridge on Selling Road, between Neames Forstal and Oversland.
"The caller said that the water inside her car was up to the gear box.
"Firefighters using a water safety unit and boat carried the woman and two children to safety."
The fire service is now reminding drivers about the dangers of driving through floodwater.
The spokesman added: "It is easy to underestimate the depth, how fast the water is moving and any hidden hazards."
