A WOMAN had a lucky escape after a school bus crashed through the side of her house just seconds after she had left the room.

The woman driver of the vehicle was treated for shock after the bus, carrying one pupil, skidded on ice and crashed into the house in Sheldwich, between Faversham and Ashford.

The bus was taking the pupil to Selling Primary School when the accident happened in New House Lane at around 8am on Monday.

The house is owned by Roy Lincoln, retired head of finance at Medway NHS Trust and his wife Jennifer.

Mr Lincoln, who was in bed at the time, said: "My wife is shaken up. If the accident had happened 10 seconds earlier, the bus would have hit her." He added that there was a huge hole in the wall."

Steve Mason, traffic manager for Chalkwell bus company said: "The driver is a bit shaken up but she is fine. There was one child on the bus but she was picked up by her parents."

* Police are appealing for information about the incident and people are asked to call PC Dan Schyberg on 07800 675359 if they can help.
