Plans to build 75 new homes, a shop and a space for start-up businesses in the village of Dunkirk, will go on show today (Friday).
Mark Quinn of Quinn Estates hopes their proposals for land next to Canterbury Road will be welcomed by villagers as they launch an exhibition showcasing their scheme.
It will be the most substantial development in the area for more than 20 years and will comprise of bungalows and larger buildings, with a number of affordable housing properties.
There will also be a new scheme which will offer opportunities for the parish to say who lives in the houses, giving young families a chance to get on the housing ladder.
Mr Quinn said: “There have been very few houses built in the last two decades in Dunkirk.
“There will be 75 homes, a space for a shop which is missing in Dunkirk at the moment and an artisan business space for startup companies.
“We need new houses to bring in new blood and although this plot of land is not in the Local Plan, the government inspector has already said that Swale Borough Council does not have anywhere near enough housing.
“Swale needs houses and we need to help them with that and help to improve the vibrancy of this village.”
The land, currently a field and used for storage, is too small to be used agriculturally, according to Mr Quinn.
The exhibition to “give local residents and stakeholders an opportunity to see and discuss the proposals” takes place at Dunkirk Village Hall in London Road from 5pm to 7pm on Friday and 9am to 11am on Saturday.
It is not the first Quinn Estates venture in the area, with the same developers behind 78 houses and a number of business units at Davington Park, which was built in 2011 and has created more than 160 jobs for the town.
In Love Lane, they have acquired permission for almost 200 homes, a 70-bedroom hotel, a business park and new facilities for Faversham Cricket Club, which they hope will create as many as 600 new jobs for the town.
