THE future of the Faversham Philharmonic Society will be decided at a meeting being held at Queen Elizabeth's School on Monday, November 19. A few dedicated members have kept the society the group going, but despite the success of its last production, The Sound Of Music, it is in crisis.
No nominations were put forward for the posts of chairman, secretary, treasurer or committee, and now an extraordinary general meeting has been called to decide its fate.
The society's publicity officer Anita Walker said: "A few members have kept the Phil afloat for too long - they need help. Fundraising activities must be undertaken throughout the year, but several have had to be cancelled due to lack of support, and without them money has become a problem.
"Sets have to be constructed, and this has once again fallen on the shoulders of the few."
She said performing and backstage helpers are urgently needed. The meeting will begin at 8pm.
