A MAN hanged himself from a bridge over the M2 motorway near Faversham today.

Police were called to the Painters Forstal bridge at about 6am after receiving reports from members of the public.

The London-bound carriageway between junctions five and six, Faversham and Sittingbourne, were closed for several hours and diversions were put into place.

The man's body was taken to the Medway Maritime Hospital by ambulance. He is believed to have lived in the Sittingbourne area.

He has not yet been named. The coroner has been informed and an inquest will be held.
