Mercedes Benz adverts feature shots of Faversham and families from the town

A series of new Mercedes-Benz adverts have hit the screen this week and they are all featured in Faversham.

In May, the Faversham News revealed that a Top Gear director would be heading to town to film a commercial for the premier car brand.

Casting House crews hunted for "ordinary people" from the town and gave the lucky chosen ones an opportunity to tryout a flashy 4x4, a saloon or a convertible.

The stars of the show included Lucy Guthrie, website manager at the Faversham Business Partnership.

Mum-of-two Rosie Moss, a teacher for Water Babies swimming lessons in the town, featured alongside her husband and and son Monty.

She had said: "There was a huge crew with sound technicians, producers and, of course, the Top Gear director, which was very exciting. It was all really good fun but quite exhausting as it took a full day of filming and we had to do quite a few retakes.

“We’ve not done any acting before but we had a speaking role, chatting among ourselves about the car.

“They were a really nice group of people and were constantly making sure everything was OK for us.

“Monty loved it, especially as he had a microphone on his seatbelt – that was his real highlight.

Casting House director Charlie Clare said: “They were using and reviewing the cars with filming on the driveway, filming as they drove and in-car filming.

“They went to everyday locations – a park, a beach, a café – doing everyday simple things.

“We were mainly filming in Faversham and its surrounding areas but went as far as Whitstable.”
