A “violent” man had to be placed in leg restraints after assaulting two people at a train station.

British Transport Police (BTP) officers were called to Faversham station just after 5pm on Wednesday, May 15, following reports of a man assaulting a member of Southeastern staff.

The railway staff was assaulted after trying to detain the man who had just attacked a member of the public. Fortunately, they had no lasting injuries.

A post on X from BTP said: “When our officers arrived the male had to be placed in leg restraints as he was so violent and taken to custody in the van on the hurry up, (using blue lights and sirens) this was to ensure we could get him to custody quickly and safely as he was still being volatile.”

The man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of three counts of assault.

“The man was further arrested on suspicion of being wanted on recall from prison, as well as for breaching his criminal behaviour order.”
