A dog has died after eating meat laced with anti-freeze at a park.
This is according to a poster in the recreation ground and reports on social media, just weeks after a spate of pet poisonings on a Faversham estate.
The poster, which has been attached to trees in the Rec, reads: “Dog owners beware. It’s been reported that meat laced with anti-freeze has been left around this park. Please ensure your dog’s safety.”
All three vets in the town, Lady Dane, Toachim House and Faversham Veterinary Clinic, had been made aware of a dog dying after being poisoned but have had no casualties brought in.
A post shared on Facebook more than 220 times said: “Someone is putting anti freezer onto meat and leaving it by the Rec. One dog has already died from eating this. Please be careful.”
The worrying news comes just two weeks after an exclusive Faversham News story reported that two cats had been found dead and a dog was fighting for its life after two food contaminations in Brook Road on the North Preston estate.
Similar to this week’s warning, it was alleged that anti-freeze had been left in packages of meat in the road.
Carer Doreen Belsey, 62, found a cat “stiff as a board” which belonged to seven-year-old Katelyn Young. Another resident of Brook Road who did not want to be named faced £900 veterinary bills after his dog, a Tibetan terrier was poisoned and needed an operation.
