Hospital supporters have vowed to fight a decision to close the minor injuries unit at Faversham Cottage Hospital.
Nurses at the hospital will no longer provide the service after March. The Eastern and Coastal Kent Primary Care Trust said it was in discussion about the possibility of having minor injuries services provided from GP surgeries from April.
But Cllr David Simmons, chairman of the hospital League of Friends, said: “The League of Friends has fought hard to keep the cottage hospital going over many years.
“We are extremely concerned and distressed that the service may be lost to Faversham.”
The league has written to the PCT and the town’s GPs requesting urgent meetings to discuss the way forward.
Cllr Simmons added: “The League of Friends will do whatever we can to facilitate a service being available to the residents of Faversham.”
