Three restaurants in Kent have been nominated as among the best eateries outside London.

Read's at Faversham, The Sportsman at Seasalter and Restaurant Apicius, Cranbrook, are vying for a place in the Top 10 Restaurants Outside London category in this year’s London Restaurant Awards.

Awards organiser Amanda Biddle said: “The standard of nominated restaurants across the country is exceptionally high and it will be an extremely tough competition.”

Nominees will be judged by food experts and Michelin starred chefs from across the UK, including the awards panel and the London Restaurant Awards Academy.

Awards judge, food journalist Charles Campion, said: “This list of nominees is proof that first class chefs and restaurants are not confined to the capital.”

The top 10 restaurants will be announced on September 1 at Grosvenor House, Park Lane
