A woman was bitten by a “stocky, dark brown dog” and sworn at by the owner who had “several missing teeth”.
Police are appealing for witnesses after the attack in East Street, Faversham, as the victim waited at traffic lights.
The dog was on a lead and standing nearby but suddenly leapt up and bit her arm at about 4pm on Wednesday, November 27.
It is understood the dog was a pit bull-type – a banned breed in the UK – but that has not been confirmed.
The man holding the lead is alleged to have sworn at the victim before he walked away.
He is described as being white, in his 20s, about 5ft 10in, slim and had several missing teeth.
Police also say he was wearing dark blue jeans and a dark-coloured hooded top.
His dog was about 3ft and wearing a black collar with some gold detail.
PC Sophie Rumsey said: “The dog involved in this incident was allegedly out of control and, while the victim was protected from injury by thick clothing, we are concerned that another member of the public or a child could have come to harm.
“We are keen to trace the dog’s owner and are urging witnesses to call our appeal line.”
