Faversham Town boss Ray Turner believes the busy Christmas period will dictate what their expectations will be for the rest of the season.

His side are unbeaten in six and play four matches in 10 days over the festive period.
Turner believes his side could make ground on their rivals if they can continue their unbeaten run.

He said: “We are going into the Christmas period with a good run of form and it will dictate how we go into the rest of the season. If we have a good Christmas, we could be within single figure points of the top six.

“It has been a tough few games for us. We just have to keep going and want to stay unbeaten.”

Faversham are 17th in Bostik South after their 1-1 draw at bottom of the league Shoreham. However, things are so tight in the league with seventh and 18th places separated by just 11 points.

Turner’s side had to play most of the match with 10 men after Carl Rook was sent off after 20 minutes. Town then battled back from a goal down to get a point after debutant Ashley Miller equalised late on.

Turner said: “Overall, I was delighted with the lads. We went down to 10 men 20 minutes into the match and they scored a bit of a freak goal.

“You would not know we were the 10-man side.

“Circumstances change your expectations when something like this happens. We got what we deserved out of the game and we were by far the better side.

“We have become hard to beat and that is the first building block of getting results.

“A couple of games ago we were talking about us conceding late goals. Now we are scoring them.

“There’s a bit of belief in the team now as we are on a decent run of form.”

Turner’s side face fourth placed Walton Casuals on Saturday and then make the short trip to Herne Bay on Boxing Day.

He added: “We do have a couple of tough games over Christmas. Walton Casuals impressed me when we played them earlier on in the season.

“Year on year they have improved and their manager has done a good job.

“We then play Herne Bay and it’s always hard to tell what is going to happen with these derby games.”
