There was a television debut for Faversham fighter Alex Branson-Cole as he bounced back from his first professional defeat in style on Saturday night.

Branson-Cole beat Jordan Latimer in the super middleweight six-round contest, shown live on the Ayotaz channel, at The Brentwood Centre to take his professional record to 6-1-1.

The 31-year-old roofer said: “A TV debut for me made me slightly nervous - but excited, too!

“Sticking to the game-plan and trying what me and my coach have been working on in the gym, I got the win, winning every round in the six-round fight.

“In the first and second rounds, I started off slow.

“But I picked up the tempo after the third round, putting shots together, dropping my opponent in the fifth round with a body shot just before the bell.

“In the sixth round, I carried on the dominant performance, winning the fight unanimously.”

It finished 60-54 to Branson-Cole, with promoter Johnny Clark keen to praise the support from around 80 fans from Faversham as the noisiest of the evening.

The bout was also screened live at Faversham Town Football Club’s clubhouse.

Branson-Cole, who is now set for a short break from boxing after his first bout at The Brentwood Centre, said: “I’m truly grateful for the support.
