Dan Carrington has been tipped to play at a higher level if he continues doing well for Faversham Town.

Carrington scored an excellent goal on Saturday as the Lilywhites beat South Park 2-1 in Bostik South.

He’s been training with National League side Maidstone United and is continuing to impress Faversham manager Ray Turner.

He said: “We started the season with him at centre-half but he can do a lot of jobs for the team. He’s capable of getting forward and scoring goals, so that’s great for him and it reinforces our messages.

“He’s a terrific talent and I believe he can play higher. I’ve been sending him to train with Maidstone this season. It’s an arrangement between myself and Jay Saunders, something I wanted to do for Dan, to try to bring him on.

“It’s important he mixes with that calibre of player and I know he’s done well up there.

“Training during the day will only bring him on. I’ve got high hopes for his future. He’s still contracted to the club at the moment but it’s not about the club or me.

“It’s about making sure he’s happy somewhere, which I know he is, and that we’re doing the right thing by him but also, when the time’s right, to give him that opportunity to play higher. We’ve got a couple of young lads who are capable of doing that.”

On Saturday the Lilywhites travel to face a Whyteleafe side who are on a nine-match winless streak. Former Faversham captain John Scarborough is now joint-manager of the Surrey side.

Carl Rook is back after suspension but although Renford Tenyue and Liam King are back in training, this game is likely to come too soon for both.

Luke Griffiths (ankle) is also a doubt for Faversham, who are away to Thamesmead on Wednesday.
