Ray Turner believes Faversham Town have more firepower up front ahead of the new Bostik South East season.

Strikers Dean Grant and Jack Harris have both rejoined the club while Harry Goodger has also signed.

Former Faversham midfielder Michael Jenner has also returned to Turner’s side ahead of their first match of the season at home to Herne Bay.

Manager Turner said: “We have got some new faces into the side and a bit more firepower up front, which is something we’ve lacked over the last couple of seasons.

“Dean Grant has signed the weekend before the season and he has a little bit of a point to prove after his previous spell at the club.

“We’ve also added Michael Jenner, who also returns to the club and brings in that experience and will be able to help the younger players.

“We are looking forward to the Herne Bay game. I’m almost there. No manager is entirely happy at this stage and I’m not ruling out any further additions.

“It is going to be interesting this season as there are quite a lot of derbies for the fans to look forward to.

“Herne Bay did the double over us last season and are aiming to be competitive again this year.”

Turner is pleased with the progress his side have made during pre-season.

However, their match at Aveley on Saturday had to be postponed because the host club did not have any officials.

Turner said: “We had a bit of a slow start, like many teams do, where people were away and unavailable.

“Since the Canterbury City game we have established the way we are going to go about things this season.

“The goals took a bit of time to come but against Hollands and Blair we were excellent.

“We turned up to Aveley and they did not have any officials for the match, so that was a bit of a blow. We had to postpone the match and ended up having a training session instead.

“It means we are now one game everyone else in terms of preparation.”
