Faversham have stormed back from their FA Cup exit with two big victories in the Southern Counties East Premier Division.

The Lilywhites, beaten by Broadbridge Heath in a first qualifying round replay last midweek, have scored nine goals without conceding.

They thumped Erith & Belvedere 4-0 at Salters Lane on Saturday thanks to goals from Kieron Campbell, Sam Hasler, Tashi-Jay Kwayie and Frannie Collin.

And they did even better at Lordswood on Tuesday night, winning 5-0 against Nicky Southall’s side.

Kwayie struck twice inside 15 minutes, with Johan Caney-Bryan, Nathan Wood and Campbell also on target.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better response in the last couple of games,” said manager Tommy Warrilow, whose team host Rusthall this Saturday (3pm).

“I’m hoping we’re building momentum. We always use the word ‘standards’.

“We know what we’ve got in our changing room and we’re hoping we can get that consistency with our performances because our boys have been fantastic.”

The results, against two sides who have been in good form, confirmed what an unpredictable league it is, however.

“I’m still trying to work this league out,” added Warrilow.

“I’ve been in leagues where you roughly know what you’re going to get but in this league you don’t know.

“It’s definitely a league where you’ve just got to worry about yourselves and getting yourselves right.

“Erith & Belvedere had a good result at Punajb prior to playing us and Lordswood are in a rich vein of form, and we’ve won those games 4-0 and 5-0. It’s a mad league.

“I’ve never known a league to throw up the results it does.

“You come off the pitch and it just baffles you.

“We could be on the receiving end of that if we start thinking we’ve cracked it but we haven’t done anything yet.

“I’m not going to put any dampeners on the last week but it’s a long old season and we’ve just got to keep doing what we’re doing and concentrate on ourselves. I can’t grumble.”

Kwayie’s form has been particularly encouraging for Faversham.

He’s a player Warrilow knows from previous clubs, including Ashford, and he’s enjoying having him around.

The forward’s work as a model means he could be called away at any time but he’s bang in form.

“We’ve worked with Tashi before and we’ve got a great relationship with him,” said Warrilow.

“We fully understand his job commitments, as the club does, but all the time we’ve got him, that’s great for us.

“It’s not a surprise to see him playing so well.

“He’s a fantastic lad and a really good footballer, which is the reason he’s on board.

“There were a few clubs sniffing around in the summer.

“Everyone will think he came here for the money but they can think what they want. Our relationship goes further than that.

“He’s coming in with a massive smile on his face and enjoying his football. Anyone will tell you when you put those two ingredients together, you play your best football.

“It’s not just Tashi, all the lads have got smiles on their faces and not just because of the last two games.”

Warrilow, meanwhile, has expressed his sympathies following the death of footballer Dylan Akue at the end of last week.

Akue, who was Sheppey Sports’ player-of-the-year last season, died aged just 21.

“When you hear things like that, it’s terrible news,” said Warrilow. “From everyone at Faversham Town, our thoughts are with all Dylan’s family and friends and Sheppey Sports.”
