Faversham Town boss Ray Turner is expecting a tough physical test when they travel to Thamesmead Town in the Bostik South East.

Faversham will play on Sunday at Princes Park as Dartford have a home match with Wealdstone on Saturday.

Thamesmead lost their opening match of the season 5-1 while Turner’s side drew at home to Herne Bay.

Faversham then enjoyed a victory on penalties over Greenwich Borough in the first round of the Kent Senior Cup on Tuesday.

Turner said: “They have signed some very good experienced players for this level. Tommy is a very experienced manager and knows what he is doing.

“I’m expecting a bit more of a physical test and we are set up quite well for that.

“It’s a nice place to go and play football there and we are looking forward to it. They were beaten 5-1 in their first game so I’m expecting them to come out fighting.

“I was a little bit concerned we would be undercooked going into the season but we’ve had a couple of good games under our belt now.

Ashley Miller’s penalty was cancelled out by Connor Cox in their opening match of the season against Herne Bay in the Bostik South East.

Turner was pleased with how his side performed despite missing that last pre-season match.

Turner said: “I thought Herne Bay had the better of the first half and we were the slower of the two teams - possibly because we missed our last pre-season game.

“I was much happier with the second half. We created more chances and I think overall it was a fair result.

“Once we got in front I didn’t see them scoring to be honest. Their goal ended up coming through a lot of players and Simon Overland was unsighted, normally he would have had a shot like that covered.

“We defended well and then once we equalised we went back at them looking for the winner.”
