Ray Turner wants a much improved performance from his Faversham Town side when they face the Bostik South East league leaders on Saturday.

Faversham will travel to the unbeaten Cray Wanderers who have only dropped two points all season. They will then host East Grinstead Town on Tuesday.

Turner wants his side to bounce back from the 2-1 defeat they suffered at home to Whitstable last weekend.

He said: “There will be no hiding place on Saturday and if we play like against Whitstable we will get heavily beaten.

“We need to put in a much better performance.

“We have to prepare positively. We know we have quality upfront and in this league anyone can beat anybody.”

Faversham went 2-0 to Whitstable on Saturday after a disappointing first half performance.

A goal back in the second half was not enough to get them anything from the game. Turner believes that it would have flattered them if they had got something from the game.

Turner said: “In the first half we let the supporters down as we were poor.

“We have got to look at ourselves after that but we do have to give Whitstable some credit as well because they deserved to win.

“The second goal was a mistake by us and then coming back from 2-0 down was always going to be difficult.

“The only positive was that we were much improved in the second half. We changed the system and brought on a couple of players.

“It was a decent crowd at the weekend and we now have some issues to address.

“I did not see it coming if I am honest. We have been beaten a couple of times but we have always played well.

“You can overanalyse things. You do have bad days and that happens from time to time.

“There is enough experience in the dressing room to realise it was not acceptable.

“They have already started to look at themselves and move on from it.”

Faversham do have a few injury concerns going into Saturday’s game with George Monger (hand), Ryan Cooper (calf) and Dave Cook (ankle) all picking up injuries.

Simon Overland is still suffering from a hip problem and was on the bench in the defeat against Whitstable.
