FOOTBALL legend-turned telly celebrity Neil “Razor” Ruddock has promised a night of fun and laughter at a dinner in Faversham on Wednesday, April 26.
Tickets for the event, at the Alexander Centre, in Preston Street, are £35 per person and include a four-course dinner.
They are available by telephoning Ray Leader on 07709 395001.
Central defender Ruddock boasts a well-travelled career which peaked at Liverpool, after a £2.5 million transfer from Spurs.
At Anfield he was the elder statesman as the so-called Spice Boys lifted the Coca-Cola Cup in 1995 and he also collected his one England cap.
He went on to play for West Ham and Crystal Palace among others, but his profile went through the roof when he appeared as a jungle dweller on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here in 2002.
And recently he showed he was game for a laugh by singing as Neil Diamond on Celebrity Stars In Their Eyes.
Ruddock said: “Stars In Their Eyes was just a bit of fun, but I have taken a fair bit of stick over it.
“One guy in The Mirror said I looked like a fat hairdresser from the 1970s. I can’t wait to catch up with him.
“Nothing can replace the buzz of playing football in front of thousands of people but telly is a close second. I also enjoy after-dinner speaking and it’ll be good to meet the people at Faversham. We’ll have a few laughs, that’s for sure.”
Mr Leader is commercial manager of Faversham Town, who are organising the dinner, and he said such fund-raising events were vital to the future of the football club.
He said: “There is a real buzz about the place these days with both our teams battling away for honours but we do not have a magic wand.
“A successful night with Razor will ensure that we can go on providing opportunities for our youngsters to make the most of their talents.”
