Ray Turner says it will suit Faversham Town to go under the radar in the promotion race this season.
Faversham has started the season with 10 points from their first six games with their only defeats coming at Ashford United and Hythe Town, both who have been tipped to go up this season.
Manager Turner said: “After having a disappointing season last year, perhaps we are out of reach of getting tipped for promotion.
“Teams are not realising what we have got. It suits us to go under the radar but that will not last for long if we keep getting results.
“We want to win every week and I’m happy with the progress we have made.
“It is a very good league this year. Every team has some good attacking players and there will be plenty of goals.
“It gives us a lot of heart. We have only lost to Ashford and Hythe away from home this season. The last time we lost we bounced back straight away.
“It’s exciting this season. It is nice to have a side you look forward to watching.”
On Tuesday, Faversham were beaten 5-4 at Hythe in the Bostik South East. Despite conceding five, Turner says there were plenty of positives to take from the game.
He said: “If you base it entertainment, it was definitely value for money for the fans.
“It was an extraordinary game in many ways and most parts of it I enjoyed.
“To go to Hythe and score four and for their keeper to play a blinder gives us great optimism in terms of going forward.
“No one likes to concede that many goals but you have to give credit to Hythe.
“We have scored 11 goals in our last three games and eight of those have come away from home. There is a lot to build on. We are more attacking this year and we are getting there.
“Even though they scored five I’m not about to change the way we play. We have taken one of the favourites for promotion to the wire.”
Faversham will hope to bounce straight back from their defeat when they face Whitstable at home on Saturday.
Turner added: “I’m delighted Whitstable are back in the league this year. They have some good people at the club and I’ve known Scott Porter for a long time now.
“Their supporters are great and have often come to our games when they have not been playing.
“It will be a different sort of game to Hythe. Scott Porter’s sides do not tend to concede many goals.”
