The event started with a support class test day in atrocious weather with the British Junior SuperSport (JSS) class final session being cancelled due to hailstones.

The 15-year-old came fourth in his first race on the Saturday.

Smart-Weeden, 15, won race two the next day and in a dominant display not only did he win the race, he led for more laps than any other rider and had the fastest lap.

“I’ve waited for this moment for so long,” he said.

“I’m absolutely elated and cannot describe the feeling of crossing the line in first position at BSB.

“I really want to thank everyone who helped get me here, my mum, my dad, my brother and my sponsors including LS2 Helmets, R&G Crash Protection and Knox Armour.”

The next BSB outing is at Donington Park over the weekend of May 19-21, but the Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School pupil will compete at Castle Combe next weekend, debuting on his Triumph 675 in the Open 600 class.
