Midfielder Tom Carlton will score goals for Faversham - once he gets fully fit.
That’s the message from Town joint-manager John Embery, with Carlton having been left out of Faversham’s last two squads after he had played the full 90 minutes of their opening-day FA Cup loss to Colliers Wood at Salters Lane.
Since then, Carlton has been working hard on his fitness and Embery has been impressed with the attitude of the former Chelsea youngster.
Embery, in charge of the Lilywhites alongside Jermaine Darlington, didn’t rule out the prospect of Carlton being able to feature as they play Swale rivals Sittingbourne this Saturday in Isthmian South East before a home match against Ashford on Bank Holiday Monday.
He said: “Tom is a few weeks away fitness-wise.
"Tom is a good player, for him to offer his best he needs to be fit. But once he’s fit, he will score goals.
“We want to make sure he’s fit, we are working on that at the moment. Hopefully he might not be far away for the Sittingbourne game. We have got him on a specific programme.
“To be fair, he has shown a great attitude.
"He has worked hard. He has been doing one-to-one training, that will help us bring him in quicker.”
Fellow midfielder Sam Bewick says he's left the club.
Like Carlton, Bewick had started against Colliers Wood, coming off shortly before the hour mark, but wasn’t involved in either squad for their matches against Littlehampton and Chatham.
Last season, Faversham were beaten 3-1 at Sittingbourne, before they won at Salters Lane by the same scoreline, while they took four points off the second-placed Nuts & Bolts. They drew 2-2 at Homelands on New Year’s Day and beat them 3-1 in their final home fixture of the campaign.
Striker Junior Aikhionbare could make his Town debut at Woodstock as the Lilywhites look to earn their first points of the campaign.
