TEENAGE Faversham Golf Club star Sian Evans was pleased with her performance despite her England under-18 girls side being beaten by the under-16 male counterparts.

The 15-year-old, who is ladies club champion at the Belmont, was on the losing side but did secure one half point as the 10 girls were beaten 12-3 at Ogbourne Downs, Wiltshire, on Sunday.

After missing the green, Evans got up-and-down from 40 yards on the last in her afternoon singles match against scratch player James Burnett, holing the halving putt from six feet.

The two-handicapper had joined forces with Helen Searle in the foursomes but went down 4&5 to Burnett and Harry Whittall.

She said: "I played really well and I was quite pleased, the boys played very well though."

Sian is hopeful of being chosen for a South East Select Squad training trip to Spain in February.
