Faversham’s injury problems appear to finally be easing.
The Lilywhites have been decimated by injuries for several months, meaning they have been without key players.
There are still some sidelined but captain Harry Harding is back while boss James Collins is hopeful centre-back Matt Bourne will return soon too for the Isthmian South East side.
Collins said: “We are looking to get some people in but, hopefully, Bourney will be back for Saturday.
“Donvieve Jones got injured at Thatcham last Tuesday but I think we are looking at Donvie, Luke Watkins and D’Jean Spencer that are out at the moment. Apart from that, I think everyone is then back, which is the best position we have been in for months.
“For the last three months, we have had at least seven players (out injured) which would have been in my squad every week.
"I’m not using that as an excuse because you have to replace those players, that’s my job as a manager.
“But I’m looking forward to getting some of the players back and working with them.
“We are definitely trying to add a few in the next couple of weeks but I want to make sure we bring in the right players. It’s just as important that they are good people as well.”
Faversham have been hit by departures, though, with Bola Dawodu heading back to Herne Bay and playmaker Eddie Allsopp also departing.
On Dawodu’s departure, Collins explained: “He was in our top-three players but they have come calling.
“They are in and around the play-offs, and have got a chance of (winning) the league, which is not where we are at, at the moment. That was his reason for leaving, which is fair enough.
“You can’t argue with that. Everyone wants to better themselves.
“Eddie Allsopp has left. He is searching for that higher move so fair play to him if he can go and get that which, ultimately, he will because he’s a good player.
“Dean Grant, obviously, went to Sheppey.
"It’s just where we are as a club at the minute. We are just very mid-table-ish. But I would rather be there than in Phoenix’s position.
“We are going to keep evolving, there are some positives from this season and we are 12th in the league, which is the highest the club has been in a while.
“As much as I’m bemoaning losing players and being very mid-table-ish, maybe you need to be careful what you wish for.”
Town had been due to host Herne Bay on Tuesday but the match was called off due to the foggy conditions, although admitted Collins he would have liked to have played.
His side lost 1-0 at East Grinstead on Saturday.
They host Matt Longhurst’s Ramsgate side this Saturday.
The Rams have a striker in Josh Ajayi who is attracting interest from Premier League and Football League clubs.
Collins stated: “We played them at their place (in September and they lost 2-1) and I thought both their wingers were excellent.
“I think he (Ajayi) is a good player. Let’s see if he can do it on this pitch and, if he can, then he’s as good as I think he is. But he’s not their only good player.
“Matt has got them well-organised and they play nice football, so it’s going to be difficult.”
Town host league rivals Corinthian in the Velocity Trophy on Tuesday.
