POLICE in Swale have sponsored awards for a special football match designed to raise awareness of the "kick racism out of football" campaign.

Ch Insp Ian Hall and PC Chris Bryant presented a cheque for £200 to Ernie Brennan, who is the head coach of Faversham Town Juniors.

The money will be spent on awards for two special matches between the club and youngsters who are involved in Arsenal FC’s Positive Futures, a national sports-based social inclusion programme.

The match will be played on Saturday, October 22 at the town’s football ground in Salters Lane.

Ch Insp Hall said: "I am certain that it will be successful in both raising awareness and highlighting activities for young people of the Borough. I hope that the footballers enjoy the awards and have a fantastic day."
