THE future of Faversham Town Football Club has been was threatened with more turmoil this week as they parted company with manager John Roseman.
Chairman Tony Hillier-Carter said the change was necessary because Roseman, a London taxi driver, was not able to spend enough time in midweek training with the team who have lost their last two matches 6-1 and 6-2.
But Roseman retorted that he had organised a series of midweek friendly games in an effort to build a team, even refereeing some of them himself.
He said: “I have mowed the pitch, painted at the ground, borrowed kit from other clubs because we didn’t have any and built a team when they didn’t have one a week before the season. My wife has worked at organising hospitality on match days and we have washed the players’ kit.”
Mr Hillier-Carter said he had discussed the situation at length with Roseman after Saturday’s home defeat by Tunbridge Wells in the Go Travel Kent League.
He said: “As far as I was concerned we had not fallen out, and I understand that John has a job which involves certain commitments.
“We weren’t paying him and it wasn’t fair to expect him to commit the amount of time that I thought we needed for a manager to get us out of trouble. I will look for a manager who is more local and can take training twice a week.”
