Maidstone opened up a three point lead at the top of the Ryman League Premier Division after a 2-0 win at home to AFC Hornchurch.
Steve Watt opened the scoring in the first half, before Frannie Collin came off the bench to seal the win late on.
The lead is there because Margate lost 2-1 at home to third-placed Dulwich Hamlet.

Aaron Jeffery's goal wasn't enough to save VCD Athletic as they lost 3-1 at home to Bognor Regis Town.
Harvey White and Stuart Green had put the visitors 2-0 at the break, before Jeffery's strike gave them hope. However an Ollie Pearce penalty secured the win for Town, to leave VCD a point from safety.
In Division 1 South, Faversham maintained their title bid with a 4-0 win at South Park.
Jack Harris gave Town the lead on 36 minutes, and that was how it stayed until the last 17 minutes when Faversham ran in three goals.
Wayne Wilson added the second, before Charley Robertson and Harris completed the win late on. Town remain level on points with leaders Burgess Hill Town, who have four games in hand.
Folkestone consolidated their spot in the play-offs with a 3-1 win at fellow high-flyers Merstham - moving above them into third.
Two goals in two second-half minutes from Ian Draycott put Folkestone in charge, but Hutchings pulled one back on with nine minutes remaining.
