A second-half fightback ensured new Faversham manager Tommy Warrilow got off to a winning start at Rusthall on Saturday.

Warrilow, appointed as Sammy Moore’s successor at the big-spending Southern Counties East Premier Division side on Wednesday, had plenty to do at half-time after Martin Youngah had given the hosts the lead in front of a crowd of 322.

But the Lilywhites levelled through striker Warren Mfula and went ahead courtesy of an own goal four minutes later following pressure by top scorer Stefan Payne on a Rusthall player, and held on for a 2-1 triumph.

Third-placed Corinthian earned a 3-1 home win over Whitstable, sixth, in a big match in front of a crowd of 151.

Winger Josh Williams put Marcel Nimani’s Oystermen in front after just three minutes but quickfire goals from Oscar Housego and Harry Lashley turned things around, and midfielder Sam Bewick got the Hoops’ third early in the second period against one of his old clubs.
