Faversham joint-managers John Embery and Jermaine Darlington are feeling refreshed on their return to the dugout.
The pair are back in football with the Lilywhites, three years after resigning from Herne Bay.
A break has done them the world of good, giving them a chance to reflect on their time at Winch’s Field. They want to do things differently at Salters Lane and keep their focus firmly on the football.
“Me and Jermaine both needed a break, to take time out,” said Embery, who has worked with Darlington for years.
“It’s given us a chance to reflect on how we do things.
“When you’ve had your fingers burnt for the first time, you go away and look at how you’d change things, what you’d do differently next time and hopefully do better.
“There’s been a lot of self-reflection in that respect, looking at how we approach things.
“We got involved in too many things outside of football at Herne Bay, things that weren’t our business.
“Here, we’re interested in the first team, the under-23s and the youth teams, everything else is nothing to do with us.
“That’s what happened at Herne Bay, we got bogged down there in matters off the pitch.
“Our job was to manage the team and the youngsters coming through, not everything else, it was like we were trying to help run the club.
“Here, we’re going to be more focused on what we need to do, all the football-related stuff, and leave everything else to the board. We don’t want to get involved in anything else.”
