Faversham manager James Collins admits it’s great for the club to have had two first-team players on trial at Football League clubs.
Youth product Benedict Bioletti and playmaker Eddie Allsopp were trying to earn deals at League 2 teams Colchester and Harrogate, respectively, on Monday.
Midfielder Bioletti, 17, is already into his second season with Town’s first-team and once again filled in at right-back in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Phoenix Sports while ex-Charlton man Allsopp has impressed since joining at the start of October.
Collins said: “It’s great news for them both and it’s great for the club.
“If we can get people into clubs like that, we are clearly doing something right.
“I hope they both get something.”
While the trials are great news for the club and the players, it does, once again, leave Collins in limbo in terms of who will be available for this Saturday’s trip to eighth-placed Chichester.
The Lilywhites, in 13th, are also battling a host of injuries but defender Matt Bourne, on-loan Dover man Marshall Wratten and left-back Abdul Saccoh may be fit to return.
“It’s hard to plan. You just don’t know before training,” admitted Collins, who was grateful for another midweek without a game.
“Even in training, you are just hoping some of them come through all right.”
One man who has been a regular for Faversham this season is defender Jono Richardson.
Collins said: “He is part of that defence which has conceded 13 goals in 13 games.
“He has been a brilliant influence in the dressing room and is probably one of the nicest people I have come across in football.”
Collins got the better of former assistant Steve O’Boyle at Salters Lane at the weekend as two second-half Bola Dawodu goals saw Town beat Isthmian South East’s bottom side.
Faversham’s boss joked: “I didn’t think the midfield were chipping in with enough goals - so that’s shut me up a bit!
“Manny (Oluwasemo) is on eight and Harry Harding is our second top scorer (alongside Dawodu on three goals) and he’s not played for a few months, so I want a bit more from them (the midfield).
“Both came from long throws.
"I don’t think we are scoring enough from them and I’ve told the lads to show me a little more desire, and Bola’s done well to score from them.”
Collins has spoken to Nick Davis, whose VCD side lost 2-1 against Chichester last weekend.
He said: “Chichester are a very good side.
“Nick was really impressed with them. The management team there have done a very good job.
“We are under no illusions it’s going to be tough for us but I think we are eighth in the form guide ourselves.
“We have not been conceding a lot of goals recently so, hopefully, we can go there and get something.”
