Ray Turner has hailed the service defender Matt Bourne has given Faversham Town.
Bourne has played more than 350 games for the club since joining Town in 2010.
Manager Turner has praised the example he has set younger players at the club after he scored a 97th-minute equaliser in the Lilywhites’ last match, at South Park on Saturday.
He said: “It is nice to be able to mention players like Matt Bourne. He has played more than 350 games for the club now and it is a fantastic achievement.
“He has been at Faversham for a long time and understands how hard the club have worked to get where it is. He is still not an old player and is someone that is a winner and my sides at Faversham have been built on that.”
Bourne’s equaliser came in the last seconds of the match when Faversham were throwing everything forward – even goalkeeper Simon Overland – to get a goal.
On Saturday, Faversham take on rock-bottom side Shoreham in Bostik South.
They have conceded 97 goals in just 33 games this season and have taken only eight points. With only one side going down, Town are 30 points clear of their opponents.
Turner added: “Complacency is not an issue when you have not been good yourselves. We have not earned the right to be complacent.
“If you look at their results since they got a new manager in, you can see they have tightened up and they have not been shipping as many goals as earlier in the season.”
Faversham do have injury problems to contend with, as Ryan Cooper, Luke Harvey and Chris Barnard are all doubtful after picking up injuries.
