Faversham boss Ray Turner is ‘delighted’ that he faces a selection dilemma ahead of Tuesday’s Ryman League Division 1 South play-off semi-final against Merstham.
Turner can choose from a full-fit squad for the clash with the Surrey side at the Shepherd Neame Stadium (7.45pm), with keeper Simon Overland the only definite absentee with a broken leg sustained in December.
Dean Grant returned from an ankle injury in Saturday’s 5-1 cruise against Walton Casuals and Turner must decide whether to pair him with Jack Harris or bring in Stuart King, who netted after coming off the bench on Saturday.
Midfielders Josh Stanford and George Monger will feature after intensive rehab on knocks picked-up in the run-in and Turner said: “I am delighted.
“Without a doubt it is the biggest game of the season. We could be one game away from the end of our season and we are all desperate to extend it to the final on Saturday.”
Town lost in the play-off final two years ago this week having beaten Hythe in the semi-final and Turner revealed: “The most important thing I learned then was to not get carried away.
“I trust the players and I try to stay relaxed for the big games. The players are up for it enough. All our focus is on this game.”
Turner was pleased with Saturday’s win, though it was not enough to overhaul Folkestone and reclaim second spot - with Invicta now hosting Whyteleafe in the other semi-final on Tuesday night, as teams vie to join champions Burgess Hill in next season’s Premier Division.
Turner added; “We kept our part of the bargain on Saturday but we always knew it was a big ask to be second as Folkestone only needed a point.”
Tickets for the game are priced at £9 for adults, £5 for concessions, children aged 12-17 are £2 and under-12s accompanied by an adult go free.
