Ray Turner says it is imperative his players don’t let their standards slip even though their race for the Ryman League, Division 1 South play-offs looks to have been run.
The Lilywhites host Guernsey at Salters Lane on Saturday (kick-off 2pm), knowing their hopes of a top-five finish have been finally dashed, following Hastings United's 5-1 win at South Park last night (Wednesday), which leaves them nine points behind the Sussex club with three games left and an inferior goal difference.
Speaking ahead of the game, Turner said: "The boys have too much pride to let the season just fade away.
“We’ve not conceded a goal in our last three matches and two of our final three games are at home where we’ve not lost since November.
“We also have the chance to finish above Hythe (who are one place and two points higher) and be the top Kent club, which would be a good achievement.”
Town face a Swale derby at Sittingbourne on Easter Monday (3pm) before completing the season at home to Cray on April 22. Turner hopes Carl Rook will be fit for the Easter games but fellow striker Jordan Casey has probably played his last game this season due to a calf problem.
