Ray Turner fears Liam King may be facing a lengthy lay-off.

The Faversham Town striker limped off early with a knee injury in the 4-1 Ryman League, Division 1 South win at Molesey on Tuesday night, and the club are waiting on a scan to determine how serious it is.

Boss Turner said: “It looked as though he twisted it and the early signs are it could be a cartilage problem.

“If that’s the case, he could be out for several weeks and it’s a concern because he has had trouble in the other knee before.”

King’s injury took the gloss off the victory, built around a dominant and strong second-half display, according to Turner, with Town only the second team to win at Walton Road this season.

Turner added: “It was important to bounce back quickly after the Dorking defeat (Town lost 1-0 on Saturday), which is the last place you want go when you are without four senior
players.”

Luke Harvey, Josh Stanford and Jordan Casey were already ruled out of Saturday’s game and Town’s task was made even more difficult by Carl Rook being unable to reach the ground after breaking down on the M25.

Harvey (hamstring) could be in line to return at home to Corinthian Casuals on Saturday
(3pm).

The game might come too soon for Jordan Casey, who has been nursing a calf problem but he may be ready to face Horsham at Salters Lane on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Sam Bewick picked up an ankle injury at Molesey and will have it assessed ahead of the
weekend.

Turner believes Faversham’s previous play-off experience will be crucial as the business end of the season beckons.

He added: “It will certainly do so if it’s all about taking it to the final game. We have 14 games left – eight at home and six away – and if we get to 94 points, I am sure that will be enough to make it.

“It means we need to finish with a hell of a run but all the other teams have still to play each other. We only have Greenwich Borough and Lewes.”
