Ray Turner says Faversham Town’s next three games will be a key indicator as to where his side are at this season.
Faversham have started the season strongly and picked up 10 points from their opening five matches in the Bostik South East.
Their next game is a trip to Hythe on Tuesday.
Manager Turner said: “We have a key next three games. We have two tough derbies against Hythe and Whitstable and then play Cray Wanderers.
“We have started to get some confidence about us and our forward players are all scoring. The goals are being shared around as well, which is good.
“Football is about that confidence. You are always going to concede but if you have that inbuilt confidence then you will come away with results.
“Our one defeat came at Ashford and we have difficult away games coming up. We are looking forward to going to Hythe and it will be a good indicator of where we are at.
“Zak Ansah has been a fantastic acquisition for them. At any level managers want a goalscorer in their team.
“He’s an obvious threat but they have a very strong squad that will be hoping to challenge for promotion.”
Faversham made it back-to-back league wins on Saturday with a 4-2 victory at Three Bridges.
Despite the good start, Turner still sees room for improvement for his side.
He said: “What I am pleased about is that we are picking up results at the moment. We still have a lot of areas to improve on and I like that. I can see the team developing.
“If we can keep picking up points while that is happening then that is great.
“Three Bridges are a good side and they proved that by picking up a win on Tuesday night.
“It was an important win and it demonstrated that we have a little bit more up front than we previously had and hopefully that will continue to improve.”
Faversham hosted a strong Gillingham side on Tuesday night for a friendly and were beaten 3-1.
Turner’s side proved no easy opponent for the League 1 side and were level at half-time.
Turner said: “We were really pleased with how we equipped ourselves. They brought a strong side and there was a good turnout of fans.
“The fitness told towards the end but we were in the game for most of it.
“It’s about slowly improving on things as we are coming up to crucial months of the season.
“The game came at a good time for us and we were pleased with what we got out of it.”
