Faversham manager Ray Turner can’t wait to unleash new loan signing Charley Robertson in one of Town’s biggest games of the season.
Turner admits Ryman League, Division 1 South leaders Faversham are “undergoing something of a mid-season transition” after adding the 18-year-old Maidstone United midfielder to the squad until January 1.
Robertson joins former Stones team-mate Jack Harris at Salters Lane, while fans’ favourite Luke Harvey – top-scorer for the past two years – will leave the club after Saturday’s huge home clash with Folkestone.
Turner said: “It’s the right time to make some changes but I’d like to place on record my gratitude to Luke for everything he’s done in my time at the club. He’s been fantastic – whenever he plays he puts his heart and soul into everything.”
Harvey’s loss will be softened by the capture of Maidstone Academy graduate Robertson – who has previously trained with Charlton Athletic and endured a difficult loan spell at Saturday’s visitors, fourth-placed Invicta, earlier this season.
Turner said: “It’s a big game for us and him. We’re hoping he can make an immediate impact. He’s eager to play and we want to let him off the leash.
“He’s got bags of talent and Football League clubs were keeping an eye on him. We’ll give him the opportunity to play and let him show people what he can do."
With Burgess Hill in FA Trophy action this weekend, Town could go seven points clear at the top, and 10 points ahead of Folkestone, with a win.
Turner said: "“You don’t want to lose at home, of course, so a draw would not be the end of the world but a win would be potentially a big swing.”
