Faversham manager Ray Turner says his ‘hungry’ Town squad are entering a five-game festive schedule which will determine their Ryman League Division 1 South destiny.
The Lilywhites have five games in a fortnight spell, starting with the visit to Tooting & Mitcham on Saturday, with just a point separating third-placed Town from leaders Merstham.
Town and Merstham shared the points at Salters Lane on Saturday, extending Town’s run to one defeat in 13 games, with Turner adding: “It was a really high quality game. My only slight gripe was that we didn’t go on and win the game and get the points that would have taken us back to the top.
“It was really a Premier Division game in all but name. There was a real step-up in quality, the level was so high, there was a decent crowd and the feedback from supporters was really good.”
Town have another away game crammed in before Christmas, a Tuesday night trip to Horsham (7.45pm), but Turner admitted: “That one’s on me. They ground-share and we were given the choice of getting it in on that date or at the end of January.
“I just wanted to get the game played and hopefully have more points on the board before Christmas.
“Obviously it will have backfired if we don’t win. But it keeps alive the possibility, that depending on Saturday’s results, we could be top for Christmas.
Josh Stanford (hamstring) trained on Tuesday and should be available for Town.
