Town boss Ray Turner says there is no room for error this Easter as his side seek to secure home advantage in the Ryman League, Division 1 South play-offs.
Turner believes Faversham need to win their final five games to guarantee they finish second and ensure the play-off semi-final and any potential final, would be played at Salters Lane.
After being held to a goalless draw by champions-elect Burgess Hill on Saturday, Town could find themselves third by Friday afternoon should Folkestone win at home to Chipstead and wipe out Town’s current two-point lead.
Turner said: “We are still in control of the destiny of second place. The draw didn’t help us but at least we didn’t lose any ground to Merstham (in fourth, six points behind).
“We have got to keep winning. To get second, we’re going to have to win at least four of our last five games.
“I can’t see Folkestone losing, in fact I expect them to win all their remaining games.
“They have Burgess Hill on the last day but they’ll probably be on their holidays having won the league by then.
“I think Hythe away is their hardest game, on Monday.”
Turner believes the Easter weekend could prove crucial to the promotion shake-up, with Faversham hosting Tooting & Mitcham on Saturday (3pm) before heading to face Sittingbourne in the Swale derby at Woodstock on Easter Monday (3pm).
Turner said: “This is a big weekend, we’ll know a lot more once it’s behind us. Playing Saturday-Monday games with the quick turnaround often throws up strange results.”
Turner says Town came out of the clash of the top-two with more credit than Burgess Hill – who could seal the title as soon as Saturday.
He said: “The conditions were difficult but there was only one team trying to win the game, we kept pressing and they were happy with a point.
“They got what they came for and that is testament to us. We went about it in a professional manner. I was delighted with the boys. In the end it was a deserved point but it should have been three.”
Town go into the weekend injury-free although Jamie Maxted is a caution away from 10 for the season and an automatic ban.
Turner said: “We will have to manage his situation. We’ll see if he picks up a booking on Saturday.
“If not then we might have to leave him out for the next couple of games – we don’t want to risk him missing the play-offs.”
