Faversham manager Ray Turner is hoping to tempt striker Jack Harris back to spark Town’s promotion push in the new year.
The 21-year-old had two successful spells at the Shepherd Neame Stadium on loan from Maidstone before making a permament switch in November 2014.
The forward made more than a dozen first-team appearances for the Stones after joining from Kent League Tunbridge Wells – where he scored 51 goals in 112 starts – in October 2013 – but after hitting 18 goals for the Lilywhites last year, he opted to join Hastings in June.
Turner admitted Harris had “got an offer we couldn’t get close to” from Pilot Field, but remained hopeful of tempting him back to join Stuart King, Liam King and Renford Tenyue in Town’s attacking ranks.
After seeing his side waste a host of chances in Saturday’s 1-1 home draw with Walton & Hersham, Turner revealed: “I put the approach in after the game so hopefully I’ll be able to speak to him on Boxing Day.”
He added: “I’m not sure how well he’s settled down there and we’d certainly be keen to have him back.
“He did an awful lot for us in his time here and maybe there is a case of unfinished business here. Hopefully, we can get something done.”
Turner is also on the lookout for a midfielder but is unlikely to have anyone in place in time for the Boxing Day (Saturday, 3pm) trip to Chatham.
Turner said: “We dropped two points on Saturday. We can’t keep giving teams below us a goal start.
“It was a missed opportunity but all is not lost. I wanted at least 10 and ideally 12 points over Christmas, so it means we have got to win our our next two.
“We are only three points outside of the play-offs and who knows, maybe this year it’s our turn to sneak into the top-five and then go on and win the thing.”
Tenyue could earn a start against Chatham while George Monger is expected to return after missing Saturday’s game with a tight hamstring but Josh Stanford is unavailable.
