It started as a seed in a children’s growing kit and has ended up as this monster.
Justin Monk contacted us about the giant pumpkin that his family have grown in the back garden of their home in Rigden Road, South Ashford.
He said: “It came from a starter seed kit for children that was a present from my mum.
“We started it off on the kitchen window sill and then in mid-May/early June we transferred it into the garden.”
Children Keighley, nine, Fred, seven, and George, three, have all helped with tending and watering the giant pumpkin.
“My partner Gemma and I bought them a little watering can and they’ve been taking care of it,” said Justin.
With the recent mild weather the pumpkin is still growing and the family plans to use it for a fancy dress halloween and bonfire night party they are planning in November to celebrate Keighley’s 10th birthday.
“We’ll hollow it out and make it into a lantern. We think it will be bigger than George come October 31st,” joked Justin.
