Three people have been arrested after £100,000 in cash was found sewn into two handbags at the Channel Tunnel.
Yesterday, Border Force officers checked a car in Folkestone and spoke to its three occupants who were planning to leave the country.
The people, from Nottinghamshire, denied having any money on them.
But a search of the vehicle revealed two handbags, containing about £100,000 which had been sewn into their linings.
Two women were also searched, and a further £36,000 was found on each of them.
The matter was handed over to Kent Police and the women, aged 27 and 47, were detained on suspicion of concealing criminal property.
A man, aged 28, was arrested on suspicion of money laundering.
All three have since been released from custody pending further investigation.
