Kent Police say the car was travelling towards Canterbury. Officers believe the car had hit a lamp post and flipped over.

Firefighters and paramedics were called, and the road was closed.

Initial reports suggest that the pensioner escaped with bruising and neck pain and was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford as a precautioon.

The road was closed while the wreckage was recovered, causing gridlock in the area early this afternoon.

The road was re-opened and cleared at 1.20pm.
