Overnight road closures will come into force for two weeks along parts of the M20.

National Highways will shut the motorway between Junction 11 in Westenhanger and Junction 13 in Folkestone as part of a £2.7m maintenance scheme which includes resurfacing and barrier repair works.

Work is expected to start on Monday, September 4 and will last until Sunday, September 17.

Highway bosses have confirmed the closures will start at 8pm each evening and be lifted at 6am the following morning.

Here are all the details you need to know for the closures, including alternative routes.

Monday, September 4, to Wednesday 6

The London-bound entry slip will be out of action at junction 13, as well as the Castle Hill bridge that passes over the M20.

Thursday, September 7, and Friday 8

The London-bound exit slip at junction 12 will be closed over these two days.

To leave the M20 at Junction 12, motorists will need to travel to Junction 11 and return on the coastbound carriageway.

Saturday, September 9, and Sunday 10

Over the weekend of September 9, The coastbound exit slip at Junction 11 will be shut.

To leave the M20 at Junction 11, drivers will have to travel to Junction 12 and return on the London-bound carriageway.

Traffic will continue to the next junction and return on the opposite carriageway.

Monday, September 11

On this day, The London-bound exit slip at Junction 12 will be closed.

To leave the M20 at Junction 12, travel to Junction 11 and return on the coastbound carriageway.

Tuesday, September 12, and Wednesday 13

The London-bound carriageway between the entry and exit slips at junction 12 will be closed.

Traffic will be diverted off the M20 using the exit slip and rejoin the carriageway on the entry slip.

Thursday, September 14, and Friday 15

The coastbound entry and exit at Junction 12 will be shut.

To join the M20, use the London-bound carriageway to travel to the next junction and return.

To leave, continue on junction 13, and use the London-bound carriageway to return.

Saturday, September 16, and Sunday 17

Finally, over these two days, the coastbound carriageway between Junctions 11 and 12 will be closed.

A diversion will be in place via the A20.
