A mother is starting a campaign for railings on her road after a car careered into her bay window and flipped onto its roof.

A blue Peugeot 307 overturned after hitting the property in New Street, Folkestone, which is part of the town’s 30mph one-way road system.

The exterior wall was damaged and bricks were pushed into the living room.

Tracy Salisbury, 46, has lived in her home for two years and was asleep at the time of the crash, at about 12.30am on Sunday.

Her rescue dog Bilbo, a mixed breed terrier, alerted her to the incident and was barking after the impact.

Ms Salisbury, a mother of one, said: “My dog was going mental.

“I opened up the door and saw the car on its roof and I ran out to see if anyone was hurt.”

Its not until she got outside that she noticed the damage to her window, which had desecrated the brick work and caused a hole but did not shatter the glass.

No arrests were made and police said there were no injuries.

“It was only a matter of time before a car hit a house,” she added.

“The neighbours and I are going to get a petition going as it is getting ridiculous. I am going to be camping out there but it could have been a lot worse.”

She added: “The window had a steel bar and I think it probably helped take some of the impact else the car could have ended up in my living room.

The damaged house has since been boarded up and Ms Salisbury says she is awaiting an insurance payout to permanently fix it.
