Armed police descended on a residential street following reports of a "disturbance" involving a firearm.
Three police cars and firearms officers wearing helmets and carrying shields were called to Harbour Way in Folkestone at 2pm.
Three more police cars and six ambulances were spotted on the seafront by the Leas Lift.
Police confirmed it was being used as a rendezvous point for officers.
The incident in Bennett Court was not part of a pre-planned operation, police told KentOnline, but was in response to a call made to police.
A spokesman said: "We received a report of a disturbance at an address in Harbour Way, which was reported to have involved a firearm.
"Officers remain at the scene but at present no offences have been identified."
No arrests have been made.
The ambulances and police cars on the seafront have now left.
