A baby had to be rescued after ending up locked in a car.

The parents had got out of the vehicle and it suddenly locked itself with their seven-week-old daughter still inside.

Fire crews were called to the scene. Stock image.

Firefighters were called out to the scene, at Somerset Road, Cheriton, at 9pm yesterday and freed the child with a specialist car entry kit.

Folkestone Fire Station watch manager John Howard said: “The keys had still been the car when the parents got out. It took us 15 minutes to get her out but she had been asleep throughout and was undisturbed.”
