A Co-op which closed suddenly has now been completely emptied of its stock and furniture.

The store, near Folkestone Central train station, has undergone a "full strip-out" in order to replace its floor.

But bosses say, while temporary closed, the shop will also be improved, including adding a self scan machine.

An opening date has yet to be revealed, but the shop will stay closed for at least several more weeks.

A spokesman for the chain said: "The store has undergone a full strip-out, which was necessary to provide access to the floor which will be replaced.

"During the temporary closure, the layout of the store will also be reviewed and improved, which will extend the range and choice.

"A self-scan machine will also be added, making the shopping experience quicker, easier and more convenient – especially at busier times."

The branch first closed on Thursday, January 19.

At the time, the company said the store, on the corner of Brockman Road and Cheriton Road, was shut as a precaution in order for the floor inside to be assessed.

Barriers were put up around the entrance of the building and signs placed on the windows to inform customers of the closure.
