Comedy star Alan Carr is to perform at The Quarterhouse in Folkestone

Tickets to see comedy star Alan Carr in Folkestone were snapped up in minutes.

Award winning Carr is due to play at the Folkestone Quarterhouse for one night only on Saturday March 22 at 8pm.

Tickets went on sale at 5pm yesterday but became the hottest ticket in town and sold out in just 45 minutes.

It is a record time that a show at The Quarterhouse has sold out in.

The warm-up show will give Carr a chance to try out new material before hitting the road for his next arena tour.

It is going to be a small gig and only 250 seats were available.

A former supermarket and call centre worker, Carr has become one of the biggest names in British comedy since being named BBC Best New Stand-Up in 2001.

He shot to fame following his Tooth Fairy Live tour in 2007, with the tour's DVD becoming a Christmas bestseller.

He recently won the BAFTA for Best Entertainment Performance for his chat show broadcast on Channel 4, Alan Carr: Chatty Man.

He was also nominated at the British Comedy Awards for the 2013 King or Queen of Comedy award - but missed out to Jack Whitehall.
