Kent Police called to help woman standing on wrong side of railings on bridge over M20 between junctions 12 and 13 near Folkestone

Police were called to the assistance of a woman standing on the edge of a bridge over the M20 today.

Officers were called at 12.25pm to reports of concerns for the welfare of the woman between junctions 12 and 13 near Folkestone.

Motorists were controlled through a rolling road block while the incident was dealt with.

A police spokesman said: "We were called at 12.25pm and instigated a rolling road block.

"She'd moved to the safe side and taken to a place of safety by officers and put into the hands of a health professional."

The lady was back on the safe side of the railings within 10 minutes of officers arriving, the spokesman added.

Witness reports said a man was seen talking the woman back on to the safe side of the bridge.
